Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Church, Boardman with Rev. Philip Rogers officiating for Joseph M. Pecchia, 86, of Boardman, who passed away Sunday evening, March 6, 2011 at Hospice House with his loving family by his side. Joseph will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his generosity, kindness and love. He was born February 11, 1925 in Youngstown the son of John and Mary (Cirsto) Pecchia and was a lifelong area resident. Joseph worked as a baker at the family business which his father started Pecchia's Bakery from 1947 until 1978 and then went on to bake at Sparkle Market Grocery Stores. He was a member of St. Charles Church and was a 1944 graduate of The Rayen High School. Joseph was a true family man and always put his family first. He loved sports especially football, playing poker and baking for his family and grandchildren especially his famous pepperoni rolls. Joseph was a United States Army Veteran where served in the Army Air Corp and earned the rank of Corporal with his occupation being Sharpshooter. He leaves behind to hold on to his memories his wife of over 60 years the former Santina Bernabeo whom he married June 24, 1950, a son Joseph (Linda) Pecchia, a daughter Joanne (Dan) MacMurchy both of Boardman, six grandchildren Nicole (Chad) Myers, Lucas (Kristeen) Pecchia, Julie (Justin) Rings, Christina (Brandon) Seamons, Jessica MacMurchy, and Dan MacMurchy Jr., nine great grandchildren Vinny, Marissa, Sophia, Jimmy Joe, Christian, Landyn, Gavyn, Devin, and Eli Joseph, a brother Michael (Gloria) Pecchia of Columbiana and a sister Clara (James) Richards of Howland. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, and again on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at St. Charles Church, Boardman. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors provided by the great men of the Trumbull County American Legion. Material contributions may be made in Joseph's name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, Ohio, 44514.
