Larry Sherman Rankin, 69, departed this earth on Monday, June 5, 2017.

Larry was born December 24, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio and was the 14th and youngest child of Scott and Thelma (Scott) Rankin. He graduated from South High school in 1966 and started working at the General Motors assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio. Larry held several other manufacturing positions and retired from Hi Tech Molding after many years of service.

Larry had a love of music and singing. He often performed at various venues around Youngstown with various bands. He later continued to foster his love of music as a local disk jockey, playing music for numerous events, clubs and bars. In addition to music, Larry enjoyed skating, cars and cheering for his beloved Cleveland Browns.

Larry married Donna Green in October 1984.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Francis Jones, Scott S. Rankin Jr., Jean Stewart, Felix Rankin, Shirley Weatherall, Clarence Rankin, and Harold Rankin.

Larry is survived by his wife, Donna Rankin, son, Christian Thomas of Youngstown, OH, daughter, Kelly Rankin of Commerce, MI, stepdaughter, Donna Barnes of Youngstown, OH, siblings, Stanley Rankin of Providence, RI, Jane Jenkins of Youngstown, OH, Dorothy Garay of Youngstown, OH, Donald Rankin (Thel) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Leonard Rankin of Youngstown, OH, Ronnie Rankin of Youngstown, OH, four granddaughters, two great-grandsons and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, June 12, 2017, from 9 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, Youngstown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Youngstown (new location).

Burial will take place at Belmont Park Cemetery.
