Youngstown - There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Rossi & Santucci, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Laverne Theresa Nicolli, 92, of Youngstown, who passed away Thursday evening, August 4, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Laverne will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for so many beautiful qualities, especially her dedication to her family and her welcoming personality. She was born October 30, 1923 in Youngstown, the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Poghen) Acitelli and was a lifelong area resident. Laverne worked during World War II at General Fireproofing to aid in the war effort and was a proud homemaker. Her family will miss all her excellent cooking especially her homemade pastas and pizzas. She was a member of St. Angela Merci Parish (Sacred Heart Church). Laverne was a determined and hardworking woman. She taught herself how to sew and crochet along with many other hobbies. She had a love for animals that was unconditional and enjoyed feeding the birds. Her husband Joseph Nicolli whom she married September 30, 1940 passed away on August 19, 2009. Laverne leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories three children Joette D'Amico of Mineral Ridge, Joseph (Marjean) Nicolli of Canfield and Cheryl (Robert) Wagner of Lake Milton, six grandchildren Nick D'Amico, Joe (Jana) D'Amico, Lisa (Jeffrey) Patrone, Jennifer (Matt) Combs, Chrissy (David) Mullane and Mandy (Steve) Jenkins, fourteen great grandchildren Nicky, Anthony, Andrew, Brett, Baylee, Samantha, Joey, Matthias, Christian, Troy, Zachary, Mikayla, Mikenze and Isabella, and two step grandsons Ben and Bob Tiratto along with her beloved dog Sophie. Besides her parents and husband, Laverne was preceded in death by two sisters Victoria Dammeyer and Helen Sabo and three brothers Philip, Sonny and Joseph Acitelli. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Laverne's name to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Rd. Canfield, Ohio 44406. On behalf of Laverne's family they would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the entire staff of Humility House and Hospice House for all the excellent care and compassion that have been shown to them during this time.
