Berlin Center - There will be a funeral service held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, with Pastor Russ Adams officiating for Lawrence A. Price , 64, of Berlin Center, who passed away Tuesday evening, September 10, 2013. Larry will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his smile and great personality. He was born March 16, 1949 in Youngstown, the son of Arthur and Betty (Kovachik) Price and was a lifelong area resident. Larry was a 1968 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and upon graduation he entered into the United States Army to serve his country. He was a very proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the 1st Calvary Unit in the Combat Infantry Division and earned the rank of Sergeant (E5). He was awarded the following decorations and citations: the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, the Service Stars, the Vietnam Commendation Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, the Good Conduct Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Marksman Award M14 and the Sharpshooter Medal M16. Larry was employed for over 32 years as a conductor working with Y&N, P&LE, Ohio Central and Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroads and retired in 2001. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans, the Catholic War Veterans Post 1292 and Brownlee Woods Rod & Gun Club. Larry had a passion for the outdoors and animals especially his beloved pet dogs. He enjoyed camping with his family, raising deer, hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved to socialize along with spending time with his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his wife of over 42 years the former Jean Tatarka whom he married on March 6, 1971, his children Nicolette (Eric) Sobek of Washingtonville and Larry (Christine) Price of Lordstown, four grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Tanner and Collin, two brothers Ken (Lori) Price of Poland and Terry Price of Austintown and a sister Kelli Piccoli of Austintown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Novella Armeni. Friends may call on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:20 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
