Youngstown – Lesley (Rucker) Shaffer, 66, of Youngstown, who passed away Wednesday evening, August 1, 2018 with her family and friends by her side.
Lesley will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her caring and fun-loving personalities.
She was born November 29, 1951 in West Virginia, the daughter of Leslie Jr. and Shelia M. (McRae) Rucker and grew up in Youngstown.
Lesley was a 1969 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a member of the VFW Post 93 on South Ave. She prided herself in being a homemaker and acted as a mother to so many of the kids in the neighborhood which showed her generosity to everyone.
Lesley had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed playing BINGO with her friends, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards, but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Lesley was also an animal lover especially of her beloved two dogs the late Satin and Drama.
Her husband David "Big Dave" F. Shaffer whom she married October 7, 1972 died July 23, 2011.
She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories two sons David Shaffer of Youngstown and Troy Shaffer of Youngstown, two grandchildren Gavin and Selah, two sisters Cheryl (Greg) Strichek and Shelly (Matthew) Jones, her long time and best friends Linda Aaron and Sherry Cowher, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Lesley was preceded in death by her mother Shelia, and her sisier Anne Banks.
Family and friends may celebrate Lesley's life on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
