Struthers- There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, Struthers, preceded by a 9:00 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Lora Ann "Lori" Filips, 56, of Struthers, who passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, February 15, 2014 with her loving family by her side. Lori will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her smile and outgoing personality. She was born February 27, 1957 in Struthers, the daughter of Robert "Bob" and Rosemarie (Ianazone) Filips and was a lifelong area resident. Lori graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School along with earning two Associate Degrees from Youngstown State University. She was employed as a clerk at General Fireproofing and then for over 32 years with Northside Hospital in medical records. Lori was a member of St. Nicholas Church and a former member of the Slovak Bowling League. She enjoyed bowling, playing miniature golf especially on vacations, traveling and going to Casino's. Lori had a strong passion for cats which prompted her to volunteer her time with the Second Chance Cat Shelter. She leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories her parents Robert "Bob" and Rosemarie Filips of Struthers, a sister Janet Marie and Tom Holliday of Columbus, two aunts Elvera Russo of Poland and Erma Baumstark of North Jackson, her cousins Richard and Brenda Russo, Diane Russo, Dolores and Albert Tornare, Carol and Stewart Hitchcock along with several other cousins and her beloved cats Otto, Fletcher, Niles and Jake. Lori was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Joseph and Margaret Philips, maternal grandparents Albert and Theresa ianazone and four uncles Alfonso Ianazone, Joseph Filips Mike Baumstark and Samuel Russo. Friends may call on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown. Lori's family would like to express their sincere gratitude and Thanks for all the compassion and care that all the doctors and nurses in Cleveland and Youngstown and especially to the entire staff of the Hospice House shown to Lori during her illnesses.
