Obituary

Youngstown - There was a private service held at Green Haven Memorial Gardens on Thursday, March 19, 2015 for Louis DiNunzio Jr., 83, of Youngstown, who passed away early Saturday morning, March 14, 2015. Louis will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for the passion loyalty and devotion he showed to the wine industry. He was born June 1, 1931 in Youngstown, the son of Louis Sr. and Philomena DiNunzio. Louis grew up in the Briar Hill section of Youngstown and was a lifelong area resident. Louis was a 1949 graduate of South High School and attended Youngstown State University. In 1955 Louis started Lou's Beer & Wine Cellar which has become a staple within the community. Louis devoted his whole life to the wine industry where he provided education and a wonderful experience for all his customers at his store. When Lou decided to retire in 1998 his legacy of a long family tradition was going to be carried on when his son Keith "Randy" purchased the store and has been running it till the present. Lou was a proud United States Air Force Veteran where he earned the rank of Airman First Class and his military occupation was Radar Tech. He received the following decorations; the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal and received an Honorable Discharge on August 14, 1954. . Lou was a member of St. Christine Church, the Les Ami Du Vin Wine Association and the Carry Out Association of Youngstown. He enjoyed working on computers and socializing with all the customers. His wife the former Freda Scoogins whom he married April 8, 1953 at St. Dominic Church, died September 1, 2003. Louis leaves to cherish his memories four children Richard (Kerri) DiNunzio of Poland, Keith "Randy" (Zelda) DiNunzio of canfield, Jeffrey DiNunzio of Youngstown and Lisa (Ken) Smith of Maine, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Entombment took place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield, where military honors were provided by the great men and woman of the United States Air Force.
