Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, with Father Christopher Cicero officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Luca A. DiMatteo, 80, of Youngstown, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning August 14, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Luca will always be remembered and loved for his outgoing and easy personality and the way he lived his life. He was born October 6, 1931 in Latina di Baia, Caserta, Italy the son of Raffaele and Maria Lorenzina (Pascarella) DiMatteo. While living in Italy Luca served in the Italian Army and was a teacher. He came to the Youngstown Area in November of 1961. Upon living in Youngstown he was a barber in downtown Youngstown for over 30 years and was attending Youngstown State University where he graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1990. Upon graduation he then taught at many schools focusing in language along with teaching cooking classes at the Joint Vocational School. Luca was a member of St. Christine Church and the Sons of Italy. He enjoyed gardening, making wine, traveling back to Italy where he still has a home, singing, cooking, and socializing with his friends. He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves behind to hold on to precious memories his wife of over 47 years the former Anna DeMartinis whom he married on May 1, 1965 at St. Patrick Church, Youngstown, two daughters Maria (David) Rivera of Canfield, Adriana (Thomas) Hall of Chicago, six grandchildren Stephanie, Christina, David Luca, Anna Maria, Luke, and Gianluca, two sisters Antonietta Petrillo of Boardman, and Teresa DiMatteo of Italy, and a brother Anthony (Candida) DiMatteo of Boardman. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
