Obituary

Youngstown - There will be a Divine Funeral Liturgy held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church with Father David Short officiating, preceded by a 9:15 am blessing service held at the Rossi & Santucci funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman for Mary Colantone, 93, of Youngstown, who passed away on Sunday evening, November 4, 2012 with her loving family by her side. She was born September 16, 1919 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Haladej) Koly and was a lifelong area resident. Mary was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. She enjoyed being a homemaker and always put her family first. She was the matriarch and glue that would always led everyone through the rough times. Mary will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for being such a witty, outgoing, colorful, honest and generous person. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and they always loved her excellent cooking and will dearly miss her famous spaghetti sauce and kolachi. Mary enjoyed going out to dinners and playing cards and singing with her sisters. She loved all sports especially golf and football and was always rooting on her favorite teams the Cleveland Indians and Browns. Her husband Pat Colantone whom she married July 19, 1941 died June of 1981. She leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories a son James (Eileen) Colantone of Poland, four grandchildren Kelly (TJ Clancy) Banna of Witchita, Kansas, Nazih Banna of Boardman, Anthony (Seth Nickerson) Colantone of Brooklyn, New York, and Carla Joy Colantone of Tempe, Arizona, and four sisters Margaret (Joseph) Hudak, Jane (Robert) Mowery, Alice Noga, and Sonja (Tony) DiPaolo. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Jack Colantone, a daughter Patricia Banna, two brothers Joseph and John Koly, and two sisters Martha Arsu, and Helen "Brownie" Valenzisi. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman where a Panachida prayer service will be held at 4:00p.m. Burial will take place at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
