East Liverpool - There will be a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11:00 am St. Maron Church, 1555 S. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, with Chorbishop Michael Kail officiating, for Mary Shattawi Daniel,93, of East Liverpool, who peacefully passed Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 2016 with her loving family by her bedside. She was born February 1, 1923, in Lebanon, the daughter of the late Nayef and Hinde Shattawi. Born and raised in Lebanon, she attended the English institute in southern Lebanon and worked at the American Embassy in Beirut for many years. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who to this day are being influenced by her continuous nurturing love and faith. Her real zest for life, shown through her constant, contagious smile and entertaining sense of humor, will never be forgotten. In 1977, during the civil war in Lebanon Mary immigrated to the United States as a widow with her children to Michigan and later moved to Ohio. She was a selfless and hardworking Agriculturist. She was a teacher, healer and believed in holistic living. She was known for her strong work ethic, her wisdom and outpouring generosity to everyone. Mary had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, entertaining family and friends, and singing and dancing. She was extremely proud of her heritage, inspiring her family to love and embrace the Lebanese culture, traditions, and faith. Mary will always be remembered and loved by her family for planting the seed of love, humbleness and respect in all of us as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her brothers abroad, Bechara and Joseph, her daughter Lucie Chamoun of Canfield, her daughter Laure (Robert) Lampi of Yorba Linda, California, her son Jean-Pierre (Josee) Daniel of East Liverpool, her daughter Suzie (Milad) Maalouf of Canfield, and her son-in-law Raymond Feghali of Lebanon. Mary has raised an army of 18 grandchildren, Caroline, Lucie, Lara, Eliane, Tania, Sandra, Laurie, Fady, Joseph, Jon-Perry, Terra, Carla, Joella, Joseph, Ritah, Elias, Christina, Taarek; and 27 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Daniel, her son Elias, and her daughter Therese Feghali, her brothers Hanna and Father Sleiman, and sisters Jeanette, Mounira and Rosette and her son-in-law Camille Chamoun. Mary's rock presence and her angelic voice will truly be missed, Momma... Teta... .Mary.
