Obituary

Canfield - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. as celebrant for Mary Ann LaLumia Hoffman, who died peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. Mary Ann will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her smile and wonderful personality. She was born January 19, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Emanuel LaLumia and Anna Santangelo LaLumia. Mary Ann graduated from Villa Maria School in Pennsylvania. She worked at Xerox Corporation for 15 years as a Customer Representative and field trainer for office personnel. She was an accomplished pianist and member of American College of Musicians. She taught piano to beginners as well as advanced pupils, before and after her employment at Xerox Corp. Mary Ann was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Youngstown. She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Robbie Hoffman and Mark Hoffman both of North Carolina, and Michael (Caryn) Hoffman of Florida, eight grandchildren, a brother Anthony (Edith) LaLumia of Wichita, Kansas, three sisters, Peggy (Chuck) Jourden of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Emily (Moss Aubrey) LaLumia, Tijeras, New Mexico, and Rita (Ed Mahoney) LaLumia, Nashville, Tennessee along with many nieces and nephews whom she adored, cousins and friends. She also leaves a very special friend Virginia Markovich of Canfield. Besides her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her son, Rex Hoffman, her sister Angela Stark, and her two brothers Alex LaLumia and Walter LaLumia. There will be a time of gathering for family and friends from 9:30 a.m. until 9:55 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
