Boardman – Mary F. (Bellino) Pollifrone, 94, of Boardman, peacefully passed away early Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026.
Mary will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, beautiful smile, and feisty personality. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary was born December 16, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Giampetro) Bellino, and grew up on the East Side of Youngstown. She graduated with the January Class of 1950 from East High School, where she was a proud “Golden Bear,” serving as vice president of her class and as a cheerleader.
Mary was employed by Dr. Frank Bellino and Dr. Patrick Cestone as a receptionist for more than eight years, until the birth of her first child. She then devoted herself to being a homemaker. Mary was extremely proud to be a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a true matriarch to her entire family. She always made her family her top priority and cherished spending time with them and attending their many activities and functions.
Mary was an excellent cook and especially loved having her family gathered around the table, enjoying the wonderful Italian dishes and dinners she lovingly prepared. Family was the center of her life, and some of her happiest moments were those spent together sharing food, laughter, and memories.
She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and enjoyed participating in the Spray Club at the YMCA for synchronized swimming. She also enjoyed playing in a card club and spending time with friends and family.
Mary married her husband, Patsy Pollifrone, on September 24, 1955, and they shared more than 54 years together until his passing on August 15, 2009.
Mary leaves behind her children, Dr. James (Pamela) Pollifrone of Arlington, Texas; Patrick (Nita) Pollifrone of Roanoke, Virginia; Dr. David (Lynne) Pollifrone of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Linda (Scott) Knox of Boardman; and Michael (Tracey) Pollifrone of Howland; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, John Pollifrone; four brothers, Dr. Frank, Peter, Joseph, and George Bellino; and two sisters, Madeline “Lena” Hrehovick and Isabel Bellino.
Friends and family may pay their respects to Mary on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
A prayer service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 9:20 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, St. Charles Campus, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman, with Rev. Stephen Zeigler as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
Mary’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers, Emma Hartman, Donita Aikens, and Kara Haskin, along with the entire staff of Traditions Hospice, for the care, compassion, and support shown to Mary and her family throughout this difficult time.
