Canfield - Michael R. “Mike” Chambers, 76, of Canfield and formerly of Campbell passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, October 19, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Boardman.
Mike was born on October 10, 1950 in Youngstown, OH, the son of Robert and Ann Chambers. He was a graduate of East High School class of 1968 and served in the U. S. Army Reserves. Mike was a proud lifelong member of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church.
Mike will always be remembered for being the life of every party, his joke-telling and for being a fount of random knowledge. He touched the lives of so many in the Campbell community serving for endless years as basketball coach for Holy Trinity School, baseball coach for Campbell Little League and as a foundational league official and coach for Campbell girls softball, ultimately leading to his passion and years of coaching as a Varsity/JV Softball coach for Campbell Memorial High School. He never lost hope in his Cleveland Indians and loved watching baseball with family and friends. Outside of his love of coaching and baseball, Mike was an avid golfer and, in recent years, spent his free time ballroom dancing with friends anywhere he could.
Mike will always be remembered by his daughter, Amy Carrier, with whom he made his home and his son, Rob and daughter-in-law Melissa Chambers. Mike leaves to cherish his memory the true blessings of his life, his grandchildren: Joseph and Ashley Carrier, Gianna Aromando, Maggie Carrier, Michael Chambers, Grace Carrier and his greatest gift of all, his great-grandson, Arthur Carrier. Mike is also survived by his brother, Daniel (Maryann) Chambers, sisters Joann Monson, Noreen Chambers and his brother-in law Don Pero, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Bonita E. Standorf, whom he married May 6, 1972; his in-laws Harold and Josephine Standorf; sister and brother-in-law, Karen (Dan) Duncan; brother-in-law Ray “Buggs” Monson; sister, Judy Pero and brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Patricia) Standorf.
