Austintown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, with Father Edward Noga officiating, for Michael Angelo Pernotto, 91, of Austintown, who passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, March 7, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Michael will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his smile, his fun loving personality and being extremely patriotic. He was born November 5, 1923 in Youngstown, the son of Angelo and Maria (Colucci) Pernotto and was a lifelong area resident. Michael was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was retired after working for over 30 years with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. He was an active member of St. Patrick Church where he helped count the collection, along with being a member of the ARCO Club, the Curbstone Coaches and the National Association of Letter Carriers. Michael was a proud United States Army Veteran where he earned the rank of Private First Class and received the following decorations, the Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He had many passions throughout his life. Michael enjoyed working in the outdoors, gardening, golfing, traveling, and was a Youngstown sports enthusiast. Michael leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his beloved wife of over 54 years the former Donna Hughes, whom he married on December 10, 1960, three daughters Michelle (Robert) Janics of Parma, Christine Pernotto of Austintown and Linda (Richard) Titus of Boardman, four grandchildren PJ Carter of Boston, Hannah, Damian and Richard Titus all of Boardman and a sister-in-law Evelyn Pernotto of Ellsworth. Besides his parents Michael was preceded in death by seven brothers Angelo, Luke, Steve, Tony, Burt, Andy and Pete Pernotto and a sister Angella Harris. Friends may call on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church on Tuesday morning to celebrate Michael's mass. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
