Michael was born in Sharpsburg Pennsylvania on April 1, 1948, to the late Peter D. Scialabba and Charlotte (Fair) Scialabba. Growing up, he worked in his family's restaurant, Bleuming's, before graduating from North Catholic High School. Micheal enjoyed hanging out with his wife and sons, watching Steelers football, Pirates baseball, and all televised sports, making friendly wagers, and playing poker and golf. He regularly attended gatherings with his college fraternity brothers. He loved hosting family holidays and over-feeding people. He was an enthusiastic meal planner and cook.

Michael was the devoted husband of 23 years to Janet (Urban) Scialabba of Boardman, and the proud father of two sons, Michael A. Scialabba and David M. Scialabba, of Girard.

In addition to his wife and sons, Michael leaves a brother and sister-in-law, David G. Scialabba and Sally Scialabba of Oyster Bay, New York, and their children Katherine and Peter; stepdaughter Julie Cancio Harper and her husband Eric, of Boardman; and stepdaughter Jennifer Cancio of Youngstown.
