Hubbard - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard with the Rev. Timothy O'Neill officiating for Philip A. "Brute" Cannatti Sr., 85, of Hubbard, who passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 10. 2011. Philip will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born December 8, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio the son of Louis and Mary (LoNigro) Cannatti. Philip was employed at Youngstown Sheet & Tube and then retired from LTV Steel Company. He attended East High School and was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard. Philip took care of the bocce courts in Harding Park and was an avid golfer, bowler and bocce player for many years. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, where he earned the rank of Seaman First Class. He was awarded the following decorations and citations: the Point System, the Victory Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. His wife the former Margaret M. Mishata whom he married on November 7, 1950 died December 13, 2003. Philip leaves behind to hold on to his memories his five children Phil Jr. (Patti) Cannatti of Canfield, Mary (Gary) Romeo of Columbiana, Louis (Karen) Cannatti of Youngstown, Joseph (FiancAC. Betsy McManamon) Cannatti of Hubbard, Carla (Bill Arens) Cannatti, of Girard, eight grandchildren Jill (Melvin) Miller, Matthew (Jenna) Romeo, Dawn Cannatti, Angie (Steve) Nagy, Gina Cannatti, Louis Cannatti, Michael Cannatti, and Joseph Cannatti, four great grandchildren Kirkland Miller, Kerrigan Miller, Brandon Hughes and Danny Nagy, a brother Louis Cannatti of Struthers, three sisters twin Margaret Thomas of Florida, Carmella Leonelli and Antoinette Zamary, and a sister-in-law Elvera Cannatti of Poland. Besides his parents and wife Philip was preceded in death by a son Robert Cannatti, two sisters Elizabeth Safarek and Nancy Simione and four brothers Rocco, James, Joseph, and Dominic Cannatti. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, and on Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard. Burial will be take place at Hubbard Union Cemetery with military honors provided by the great men of the United States Navy. Material contributions can be made in Philip's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
