CANFIELD - Philip A. "Phil" Leonelli, 63, of Canfield, passed away Wednesday morning, May 8, 2013. Phil was born May 27, 1949 in Youngstown, the son of Martin and Carmel (Cannatti) Leonelli and was a life-long area resident. After graduating from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1969, Phil earned an Associate Degree from Youngstown State University in Computer Science. He was employed by Procter and Gamble until he retired in 2007. Phil was an avid golfer and bocce player. He was Captain of his team in the Y-League, which won the championship in 2008, and was honored to have golfed at St. Andrews in Scotland. He played bocce throughout the years at Pacetrani Club, St. Anthony's, Petri Club, and MVR. He married Mary "Katie" Giampetro on May 20, 1972. They were married for 41 years and had many wonderful life experiences. Together they had two children, Eric (Mary) Leonelli of Uniontown and Sara Leonelli of Canfield, and 3 grandchildren (Dylan, Noelle and Adam), whom he loved and adored. He was the oldest of eight siblings: Lou (Cheryl) Leonelli of Youngstown, Marty Leonelli of Youngstown, Tom (Carrie) Leonelli of Youngstown, Bob Leonelli of Youngstown, Sharon Gentile of Canfield, Bill (Shari) Leonelli of Boardman, and Dominic (Bev) Leonelli of Boardman. Phil was preceded in death by his father Martin Leonelli. Family and friends may call on Monday, May 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Michael's Church, 281 Glenview Road, Canfield, followed with a Celebration of Phil's Life in the church social hall till 8 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made for a Cardinal Mooney scholarship fund that will be established in Phil's memory.
