Obituary

Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. as celebrant, preceded by a 9:10 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Ralph A. Barbato Jr., 95, of Boardman, who peacefully passed on Thursday morning July 23, 2015 with his family by his side is now reunited with the love of his life Evangelene. Ralph will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for the way he always put his family first and his generosity. He was born October 1, 1919 in Youngstown, the son of Ralph A. Sr. and Rosella (Colucci) Barbato and was a lifelong area resident. Ralph was a 1937 graduate of East High School and later attended Youngstown College. Ralph started working at a young age while going to school. He delivered ice around town and then was hired at Commercial Sheering where he worked his way up through the company and retired as a foreman. Ralph was a proud United States Army Veteran of World War II. While serving in active duty, he was attached to a hospital unit in Europe and Africa and served 33 months servicing the 101st Airborne Division and the 442nd Japanese Combat Team in Africa, Italy and France. Ralph was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica and the AmVets on the eastside of Youngstown. Ralph had many enjoyments throughout his life. He enjoyed gardening, bowling and golfing, but he especially loved to fish along with all the annual trips to Canada. His wife the former Evangelene Costarell whom he married May 23, 1942 died just two days short of their 73rd. wedding anniversary on May 21, 2015. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memoires two daughters Donna Marie (Larry) Davis and Karen Billock both of Boardman, three grandchildren Larry Davis III of Struthers, Christine (Patrick) Hoffman of Poland and James Billock Jr. of Boardman, two great grandchildren Kelsey Davis and Ethan Hoffman and a brother Bartholomew Barbato. Besides his parents and wife Ralph was preceded in death by a son-in-law James Billock and two sisters Veronica Desmone and Rose Marie LaCivita. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman.
