Obituary

Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic's Church with Father Bernard Timothy officiating, preceded by a 9:20 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman for Richard M. "Dick" Lyons, 77, of Boardman, who passed away early Wednesday morning, November 13, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Dick will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born October 2, 1936 in Youngstown, the son of William and Irene (Joyce) Lyons and was a lifelong area resident. Dick was a 1954 graduate of East High School and a member of St. Dominic's Church and the Steelworkers' Union. He was employed for over 25 years with Wean Untied Steel Corp. as a furnace operator and retired in 1978. Dick enjoyed golfing and bowling where he was active in many leagues along with water skiing, fishing and the outdoors. His greatest love was cooking and spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories the love of his life his wife the former Nancy Lee O'Dea whom he married on August 27, 1955 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, three sons Richard W. (Terri) Lyons of Poland, William (Carol) Lyons of Boardman and Patrick F. (Pauline) Lyons of Poland, eleven grandchildren Lisa (Joe) Iberis, Lora (Nick) Demetrious, Tara Grace Lyons, Shannon Lyons, Megan (Gabe) Woolum, William R., Molly, Patrick M., Emily J., Cassidy Q., and Nicholas C. Lyons. Seven great grandchildren Joey, Tyler, Carter, Delaney, Alex, Keegan and Lane, two brothers John "Jack" Lyons and Michael "Mick" (Carla) Lyons and a sister Joyce (Frank) Danks. Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a brother William Lyons. Friends may call on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
