Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Richard J. "Mort" Mortellaro, 67, of McDonald, who passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, May 25, 2011 with his loving family by his side. Richard will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born November 16, 1943 in Youngstown, the son of Ross and Donna (Alfona) Mortellaro and was a lifelong area resident. Richard was employed for over 30 years United Postal Service (Ups) as a delivery driver and retired in 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, and the American Legion Post #235 in Girard. Richard was a 1962 graduate of East High School where he played golf and football. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was Air Force Police and patrolled the missile sites. Richard loved to golf, play cards especially poker, and BINGO, but his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed nothing more than just spending time with them over his house. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his wife of over 47 years the former Fran DePinto whom he married October 19, 1963, his four children Richard D. Mortellaro of McDonald, Mark Allen (Ginger) Mortellaro of Fredrick, Maryland, Ross Mortellaro of Girard, and Christine (John) Price of McDonald, five grandchildren Adam, Nathan, and Avary Price, and Kathryn and Dominic Mortellaro. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Nicholas Mortellaro. Friends may call on Friday, May 24, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown with full military honors provided by the great men of the Trumbull County American Legion.
