Obituary

Austintown – Richard Lee Mowry, 72, of Austintown, who was called by the Lord Jesus to his heavenly home on April 27, 2014, where he was reunited with his wife Diana and granddaughter Brittany. Richard will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born September 11, 1941 in Lake Forest, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Georgia (Buckham) Mowry and moved to the Youngstown area as a young child. Richard was employed for over 34 years with Pittsburgh-Canfield Steel Company, where he worked on the galvanizing line and retired in 1988. He was a 1959 graduate of Canfield High School and a United States Army veteran. Richard was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Austintown. He was an avid sports fan especially for hockey, baseball and football and he always rooted on his favorite teams the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs and the Oklahoma Sooners. Richard loved and adored his daughters and grandchildren with all his heart and enjoyed cooking and baking for them especially his pumpkin cookies and sloppy Joe's. His wife the former Diana Hettler whom he married June 20, 1970 died July 4, 2004. He leaves behind to hold on to his memories two daughters Kelly Mowry of Austintown, and Sheri (Dane) Carder of Canfield, three grandchildren Breanna, Kaitlyn and Adam Carder, a sister-in-law Jacqueline (Jim) Cirjak, his beloved pet Labrador Jeter and his childhood and best friend Phil Agrella. Besides his parents and wife Richard was preceded in death by a granddaughter Brittany Diane Mowry. Per Richard's request there were private services held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
