BOARDMAN- Richard Anthony Schulz, 82 , passed away Tuesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home,4700 Market St. Boardman. Richard was born Dec. 23, 1931, in Youngstown, a son of Anthony and Marie Gerard Schulz and was a lifelong area resident. He left South High School at the age of 17 and enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, with fifth infantry Division. After the service he worked for Ohio Chair for 17 years and then worked at General Motors for 23 more years until he retired. He belonged to the Korean War Vets Mahoning Valley Chapter #137, belonged to Cap Council and was a member of UAW Union Local #377. Richard was very proud of his military services and the American flag. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Gabrielle Zerlau, whom he married March 6, 1976; today would be their 38th wedding anniversary. He will also be missed by his three daughters, Susan Schulz of Struthers, Debbie (Larry) Dunn of Hampton, VA, Cora (Joseph) La Gamba of Austintown; a brother Alvin Schulz of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren, Richard Schulz, Gregory Schulz, Tamara Dunn, Billy Dunn, Jordon La Gamba, Giavanna La Gamba, Ava La Gamba; and a great-grandson Jackson Schulz. Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister Dolores Brown and his two brothers, Raymond and Paul Schulz. Friends and family may call an hour before the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman.
