Austintown – There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church, 2055 Pleasant Valley Rd. with Pastor John Weisman officiating for Ricky J. "Rick" Rounds, 61, of Austintown, who passed away peacefully from an apparent heart attack on March 28, 2014 while doing mission work with the church group in West Virginia. Rick will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his big smile, sarcastic whit, generous personality and always willing to give a helping hand to others. He was also an excellent caregiver to his whole family, but he especially was to his wife Krista during her time of illness and when she needed him most. He was born April 17, 1952 in Rochester, Pennsylvania the son of Delbert and Rosanna (McDermott) Rounds and lived in the Mahoning Valley most of his life. Rick was a member of the Labors Union #935 for over 35 years where he worked for various companies and retired in 2005. Upon retirement Rick was an over the road truck driver for 6 years and for the first year was a team driver with his daughter Kristy. He attended Girard High School and was a member of Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church. Rick was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of Private First Class. His military specialty was being a medic and he earned the following decorations and citations; the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed camping, fishing, working out on his treadmill, playing poker and the Lottery (where he met his wife Krista), but above all he especially loved his grandchildren and will always be their "PAPA RICK". Rick was a diehard Cleveland Browns fan being a season ticket holder where he loved the tailgating and they will never be the same without his famous BRATS that he would cook. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his wife of over 29 years Krista Ventresco whom he married March 2, 1985, four children Lonnie Rounds of Warren, Kristy Rounds of Niles, Ricky Jr. (Kelli) Rounds of Bazzetta, and James (Fiancé Shelby Wilson) Rounds of Austintown, six grandchildren Justin, Haley, Megan, Gabriella, Claire and Ricky III Rounds, a step granddaughter Katie Click, a brother Delbert Jr. (Mishelle) Rounds of Pennsylvania. And his first wife Sherry Gromely of Niles Rick was preceded in death by his parents; an Infant brother and a special aunt who helped raise him after his mother passed Bernadine Tepsic. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman and again on Wednesday April 2, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church.
