Coitsville - There was a private Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Angela Merci Parish, Sacred Heart Church, for Robert Jansen, 54, of Coitsville, who passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2015. Robert will be always remembered and sadly missed by his entire family. Robert was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on September 11, 1960, the son of Tom (Antonius) and Agnes (Von Der Togt) Jansen, who came to Canada from the Netherlands to reside in Winnipeg. Robert was very proud of his Dutch heritage. Robert and his family moved to the United States of America when he was 7 years old. They started their roots on the South Side of Youngstown. He went to Sheridan Elementary School, Jr High at Saint Dominic's on and later graduating High School from Cardinal Mooney. After graduation, Robert convinced his father to open up a used car dealership, which they opened on Market Street in Boardman. They ran that for about 10 years and later selling the lot to start working construction. Robert then became a proud member of Local Masonry Union 179. Shortly after that, he built his first home in Coitsville Ohio, where he moved his father and mother in with him. Robert was very close with his parents and loved them dearly. Robert spent a lot of time with his two oldest nieces and loved taking them to the movies. Robert, his father and mother enjoyed antique dealing. Robert and his father also enjoyed raising horses, cows and a goat. They also dabbled in buying old houses and restoring them so that they could resell them. Robert leaves behind his father and mother Tom and Agnes Jansen, two sisters Annette (Tony) Santoro, Jeannette Giampietro, his nieces and nephew Ashely Fusco, Chantel Fusco, Anthony Santoro and Maria Santoro.
