Ronald "Ron"
N. Hackett
July 3, 1939 – December 7, 2015
Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, with Father Bernard Timothy O.P. officiating preceded by a 9:20 am prayer service at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Ronald "Ron" N. Hackett, 76, of Boardman, who passed away peacefully Monday evening December 7, 2015 from an unexpected illness. Everyone knew Ron as a generous and kind hearted gentleman. He always made himself available to lend a hand to anyone in need, even though he suffered daily with diabetic nerve pain. One of Ron's gifts was drawing caricatures of family members and friends. He always surprised them with a framed drawing, complete with a humorous caption that reflected an aspect of their personality. Ron completed them with his signature "untied shoelaces" on each and every person. Ron was born July 3, 1939 in Youngstown, the son of James and Lucille (Nard) Hackett and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1958 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Ron was employed for over 25 years as a route salesman, and retired with Nickles Bakery in 1998. He was an active member of St. Dominic Church where he did volunteer work. Ron was a proud United States Army Veteran and earned the rank of SP4. He was awarded the following decorations for his service to our country the Sharpshooter Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Ron first priority was always his family and especially his grandchildren whom he adored. He loved going to all their events and taking them fishing. Ron always had a passion for listening to music and playing the harmonica. He leaves behind his wife of over 51 years, the former Roseann Amicone whom he married October 17, 1964 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, two children Mark (companion Shannon Fahy) Hackett of Youngstown and Renee (Bill) Liberato of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren Nikolas Hackett, Massimo, Giada and Lucca Liberato and a sister Barbara (Raymond) Kallner of Sarver, Pennsylvania. Besides his parents Ron was preceded in death by a brother Dennis Hackett and a sister Janet Hallas. Friends may call on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown with full military honors provided for Ron by the great men and women of the United States Army.
