Boardman - Rose J. Deramo (née Policastro), age 86, of Boardman, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2026.
Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to parents Patsy and Josephine Policastro.
Rose was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She earned her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital and her BS degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She spent her early career as a head nurse at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA working with newborns. After she was married, she volunteered for many years with the Angels of Easterseals, supporting the programs of the Northeast Ohio Chapter, and committed herself to teaching her three children. She also had a strong interest in cooking, fashion, and spending time with her family.
Rose is survived by her devoted husband Anthony, her three children Vincent (Ann Marie) Deramo, Mark Deramo, and Susan (David) Purcell, her cherished grandchildren Alexandra, Lauren, Annie, Brendan, Luke, and Colin, her siblings Joseph Policastro (Pam), Carole Policastro, and Patricia Policastro, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman, where a prayer service will be held at 12:20 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw, J.C.L., V.G., as celebrant.
Entombment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery, 1459 E Midlothian Blvd, Youngstown.
The family also wishes to extend our thanks to Dr. Charles Wilkins who cared for Rose for many years.
