Obituary

Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Michael J. Cariglio officiating, preceded by a 9:00 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Samuel Anania., 80, of Youngstown, who passed away Saturday morning August 6, 2011, with his loving family by his side. Sam will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his big smile, and the love and compassion he showed to his family and friends. Sam was born August 10, 1930, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, the son of Domineck and Daisy (Marano) Anania. He was raised in Clarksburg and later moved to Youngstown, Ohio. He was employed as a Grocer, working for Loblaws, Fisher-Fazio, Valu-King and Giant Eagle, Sam retired in June of 1986. Sam was a Graduate of Victory High School in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Sam loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially playing with his grandchildren. Sam was a United States Coast Guard Veteran, during the Korean War where he earned the rank of CS3 and served from 1950 until 1953. He is now reunited with his beloved wife the former Carolyn Van Horn whom he married on March 24, 1969 died August 17, 2002. He leaves behind two sons Gary (Ruth) Anania of Chicago, Ill and Terry Anania of Mineral Ridge, five daughters Sarah (Rick) Sause of Youngstown, Eulalie Gragorace of Greenville, Karen Anania of San Dimas, California, Jovanka (Roger ) Moore-Schnipke of Leipsic, Ohio, and Theresa (Roger) Latham of Boardman, nine grandchildren Kristin (Brad) Adair, Jimmy Sause, Rickey and Megan Sause, Nick Anania. Alyssa and David Moore, and Jessica and Derrick Latham, one great -grandchild Nicholas Adair, five brothers Russ (Pauline) Anania of Youngstown, Thomas (Glenna) Anania of Cincinnati, John (Iona) Anania of Orlando, Florida, Peter (Betty) Anania of Austintown, and Tony Anania of Youngstown, two sisters Victoria Anania of Akron and Nancy (Jim) Tolbert of Yardley, Pa. and his beloved pet cat Daisy. Besides his parents and wife Sam was preceded in death by a brother Frank Anania, and a sister Marie Karakiozis. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Green Haven Cemetery with full military honors provided by the great men of the Trumbull County American Legion.
