Obituary

Poland - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Angela Merici Parish, Sacred Heart Church, with Father Kevin Peters officiating, preceded by a 9:10 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Santie Dominic "Bull" Lofaro, 87, prominent concrete contractor, of Poland, who passed away Sunday morning, June 3, 2012 with his loving family by his side. Santie will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born June 26, 1924 in Campbell, the son of Carmelo and Francesca (Scarfo) Lofaro and was a lifelong area resident. Santie was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and long time member of Sacred Heart Church where he was very active in his younger days. He worked for over 20 years at Youngstown Sheet-N-Tube while also learning the trade of a cement finisher. Upon mastering his trade he then was owner and president of the Lofaro Concrete Construction Company for over 60 years. Santie worked in 27 states specializing in extruding curbing and was awarded a patent by the United States of America for the cut off blade for the curbing machine. Santie loved bowling, traveling to Las Vegas (which was like his second home), where he met and stayed with many movie stars and had passion for betting horses. He was an animal lover and especially of all his dogs Queenie, Max, and Precious whose ashes will be resting with him. Still surviving is his beloved dog Bruno who stayed with him till his passing and now will be sharing his home with his daughter Sandra. Santie also was a sports enthusiast and his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys but he was also a diehard Cleveland Indians Fan, and his all time favorite player is the legend Babe Ruth. He leaves behind to hold on to his memories his children Sandra Nail with whom he shared his home, Samuel (Valerie) Lofaro of Struthers, Joseph Lofaro of Brookfield, Ronald (Karen) Lofaro of Canfield, Debbie Zuzga of Boardman, and Kathy (John) Zalovick of Youngstown, two step children Tom Cover of Columbus and Barbara Love of Florida, 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and 7 step grandchildren, his former wife of over 25 years and the mother to his seven children Ann Lofaro, a sister-in-law Betty Lofaro and several nieces and nephews which includes the singer Tony Bennet who is a third cousin. Besides his parents and wife of over 25 years the former Deloris Cover, he was preceded in death by a son Michael Lofaro, grandson Johnny Zalovick, son-in-law Leo Nail Sr., two brothers Samuel and Joseph Lofaro, and two sisters Mary Biaselle and Antoinette Ricciardulli. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Entombment will take place at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Coitsville.
