Canfield - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Timothy B. Straney, 65, of canfield, who passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Timothy will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born September 29, 1946 in Altoona, Pennsylvania the son of Louis and Virginia (Blair) Straney. Timothy was a graduate of Canfield High School and received his Bachelor of Education in Mathematics for Youngstown State University. He then continued his education and earned one of his Masters in Education from Bowling Green University and one also from the University of New Mexico and then earned from Kent State University his PhD. He taught Mathematics at the primary and college levels including Youngstown State University, University of New Mexico, Kent State University, and Rolling Rock University. Timothy was a devote member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, along with being a United States Army Veteran where he earned the rank of 1st. Lieutenant. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his brother Shawn (Gail) Straney of Homewood, Illinois, two nephews Matthew and Daniel Straney both of Homewood, Illinois, five cousins, and a host of loyal friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Richard Straney. Friends may call on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cresson, PA.
