There will be a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church, Austintown, with Father Kevin Peters officiating, preceded by a 9:10 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Vincenzo "Jimmy" Tropepe, 87, who passed away July 3 following an extended illness. Jimmy was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Reggio Calabria, Polistena, Italy, a son of Raffaele and Caterina (Auddino) Tropepe. He came to the United States in January 1948 and eventually settled in Youngstown. He worked for Republic Steel on Albert St. and then Truscon Manufacturing. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, woodworking, traveling, watching the Italian channel on TV, talking about the "old country," and taking trips to Cape May and the Jersey Shore. Jimmy will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Anna Marie Mancini, whom he married June 11, 1955; three children, Cathy (Tim) Moffitt of New Jersey, Mary Jane (Tony) Vario and Vince (Denise) Tropepe, of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Lisa (Ken) Bielik, Marc Vario, and Mike and Joe Moffitt; four brothers-in-law, Dante (Ann) Mancini, Frank (Elaine) Mancini, Eugene (Rosemary) Mancini, and Anthony (Dee) Mancini, all of Youngstown; a sister-in-law, Sondra Tropepe of Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Angelo Tropepe, and a brother-in-law, Mario Mancini. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
