Obituary

Youngstown - Virginia A. McLain, 87, a lifelong resident of the valley passed away on Monday October 21, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ginny was born January 29, 1926 in Youngstown the daughter of John and Sarah Del Bene. Virginia was a 1943 graduate of East High School and continued her education at St. Luke Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland, graduating as an Registered Nurse in 1946. Virginia worked at St. Joseph Hospital as an RN and retired in 1981. She was an active member of the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and continued to serve as a volunteer at the hospital. Her husband William R. McLain, of Warren, whom she married in 1947 died in 1988. She leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories three children, Shawn McLain of Margate, Florida, Pamela (William) Agona of Canfield and Ellen (David Bennett) McLain of El Granada, California, three grandsons, Joshua (Dawn) Markl of Half Moon Bay, California, Clinton Markl of Grants Pass, Oregon and Evan (Marykate) Agona of Canton and a great grandchild Aubree Agona. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother John Del Bene. As per Virginia's request there will be no calling hours or services held. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, Vienna. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. The family requests that material donations in Virginia's memory be made to The Healing Garden of St. Joseph Hospital, checks should be made payable to HMHP Foundation, Attention Gail Bellan, 667 Eastland Ave., Warren, Ohio 44484. Virginia's family would like to thank Hospice House and Hospice of the Valley for all the care they provided Virginia during her final days.
