Poland - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Virginia Marie Valenzisi, 103, who was carried off by angels to her Heavenly home Sunday evening, March 17, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Virginia will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her smile, easy going personality and her devotion to her family and church. She was born April 21, 1909 in Youngstown, the daughter of Salvatore and Carmel (Candella) Morella and was raised after her father passed away by her mother and step father Patsy Calipare. Virginia was a proud homemaker and worked during the war for a short time at Moyer Pants Factory. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she was a charter member of the Mothers of Crucifix Society, a member of the Senior Citizens and also volunteered her time to baking the pizza and bread. She was also a member of Gerdina De Dalia Lodge. Virginia was honored by Our Lady of Mount Carmel as Woman of the Year and in 2002 honored by the Youngstown Greater Italian Festival as Woman of the Year in which she was extremely proud of. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, playing cards, traveling to Las Vegas and canning. She was an excellent Italian cook and baker and her family will miss all of her wonderful dishes that she made. Her husband Frank Valenzisi whom she married April 18, 1929 died July 1, 1993. She leaves behind to hold on to her precious memoires three children Claire Patoray of Youngstown, Carmella "Dolly" (David) Crump of Poland and Frank J. Valenzisi of Boardman, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Carol Valenzisi, grandson Robert "Bobby" Crump, four brothers Thomas Morella and Joseph, Frank, and Michael Calipare and two sisters Jennie Colantuoni and Antoinette Palumbo. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
