Obituary

Youngstown - There will be a Home Going celebration to honor the life of Walter L. Weatherall on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown, with Rev. Kenneth Simon officiating. Walter departed this life on Monday afternoon, May 9, 2011 at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born January 3, 1939 in Haynes, Arkansas, the son of Erskine and Laura (House) Weatherall. He was a 1957 graduate of Forrest City High School and moved to the Youngstown area in 1965. Walter was employed at the General Motors Lordstown and retired in 1992. He was a member of the UAW Local 1714 and New Bethel Baptist Church where he attended Bible Study. Walter will be remembered most for his kindness and generosity. Always willing to help solve a problem, and give his knowledge and time to anyone who asked. Walter will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know him. Walter had been an Easter Seal volunteer since 1990, and even helped his loving wife with her day care business. He enjoyed hunting, carpentry work, boating and he especially loved to fish. He leaves behind, anchored in the strength and love that is his legacy, his wife the former Shirley Rankin whom he married June 30, 1990, a daughter Karen (Levi) Akparana of Riverside, California, a son Vincent (Pat) Weatherall of San Bernardino, California, five grandchildren Vincent Jr., Victoria, and Victor Weatherall, and Levi Jr. and Jordan Akparana, a sister Lucille (Joseph) Glaspie of Suisun, California, and a brother Booker (Beulah) Weatherall of Fairfield Ohio. There are numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will cherish his memory as well. numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John B. Weatherall and a sister Maybel Perry. Friends may call on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown. Burial will take place at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Canfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
