Obituary

Austintown - There will be a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for William J. "Bill" Isom, 80, of Austintown, who passed away late Wednesday evening, April 15, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Bill will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his smile, always putting his family first and his generous and fun loving personality. He was born November 8, 1934 in Tennessee, the son of William Jesse and Sarah Elizabeth (Easley) Isom and then was raised in Bristol, Virginia, before moving to the Youngstown area in 1957. Bill was a graduate of Douglas High School in Bristol and then followed his passion by graduating from the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute. He retired in the early 1990's as Executive Chef after working for over 20 years at the Youngstown Club. Bill was a proud United States Army Veteran of World War II where he served with the Special Forces Unit Paratroopers and received an Honorable Discharge. He was a member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church. Bill was an exceptional Chef and loved cooking for everyone, but they all knew "Eat It While Its Hot" was his famous motto. He was also very talented in creating and making ice sculptures in which everyone enjoyed . Bill leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his wife of over 26 years the former Denise Shaw whom he married on August 8, 1988, his children Sarah Isom of Youngstown, Farrah Shaw-Hewlett of Canfield, Cecilia Isom of Youngstown, Calvin Johnson of Florida and Bill Isom of Columbus, his grandchildren Shathomas, Tyler, Shane, Farrah, Karrah, Amya, Anya, Mariah and Samiah and many others that live out of town, along with a brother and six sisters and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
