BOARDMAN - Atty. William A. Gemma, 89 There will be a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Regis Heuschkel at 2:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Church for Atty. William A. Gemma, 89, who died Saturday afternoon at his residence. William was born in Youngstown on January 30,1922 a son of Antonio and Maria DiPilla Gemma and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of South High School, Ohio Northern University and Case Western Reserve University Law School. He and his father operated the family business, Gemma Market on Pyatt Street, until 1961. He was an attorney and practiced law for over 55 years. William was a member of the Mahoning County and the Ohio State Bar Associations. William was a long time parishioner at St. Dominic Parish, a past president of St. Dominic Parish Council and a member and past president of the Holy Name Society. He created, implemented and chaired the St. Dominic Church Festival for many years. His wife, Lucille V. Daley, whom he married September 11, 1950 died on May 7, 2006 after 55 years of marriage. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Atty. Anthony (Cynthia) Gemma of Poland, Dr. Nicholas (Shannon) Gemma of Winchester, VA; two daughters, Mary Lou Ferranto of Poland, Rose Marie (Samuel) Calco of Tampa, FL; his sister, Gloria Zerbonia of Boardman; 11 grandchildren, Dr. Lee (Dana) Gemma, Marissa Gemma, Scott Gemma, Michael Ferranto, Vanessa Ferranto, Alysse Ferranto, Denise (Jason) McCullers, Laura Calco, Meghan Gemma, Erin (Carter) Worley, William A. Gemma II; four great-grandchildren, Elijah Gemma Worley, Oliver Worley,Baily & Seth McCullers. He will also be missed by special friends; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Demko, , his niece Regina Zerbonia, Mr.and Mrs. Joseph Diorio, Dr. Mauris Nnamani, and Paola Uribe. The family wishes to thank the following caregivers for the love and compassion that they extended to William over the past year: Larry Malekovic, Tristen Porter, Gina Matheny, Fred Streb, Jerry Morris, Jason Basic, Linda Renfrew, Jerry Sandrock, Michael Elick, Patti Coffman, and Cyndi Hayes. Besides his wife and parents, William was preceded in death by three sisters, Viola Poidmore, Nancy Poidmore, Cecelia Capuzello; a brother Cologero Gemma and a grandson, Joseph D. Gemma. In lieu of flowers or material gifts, the family requests donations in William's memory to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St. Boardman, OH 44512.
