Austintown - William "Bill" L. Bolf, 83, of Austintown, passed away late Thursday, March 31, 2011 after a long illness with his loving wife by his side. William will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born July 26, 1927 in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania and raised in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, the son of Louis and Lillian (Kasum) Bolf and moved to the Youngstown area in the late 1960's. Bill was a graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School, Wilmerding, Pennsylvania and retired in 1985 as a supervisor from General Motors Lordstown Plant. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Austintown, UAW Local 1112, and the Retiree's Club from General Motors. Bill was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II where he earned the rank of Seaman First Class USNR. He was awarded the following decorations and citations; the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal of World War II, the American Theater Ribbon, and the Pacific Theater Ribbon. He enjoyed watching movies, socializing, hunting, and gardening. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his wife the former Freda "Susie" Irvin whom he married on May 19, 2004, a sister Sister Margaret Ann Bolf of Mt. Assisi Convert, and his beloved poodle Pee Wee. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers George and Pete Bolf and two sisters Kathryn Matiasic and Lillian Kvall. At Bill's request there will be no services or calling hours and a caring cremation has taken place.
