Adwane Warchol Obituary

Youngstown - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Adwane Sleiman Warchol who left us on July 28th, 2024 at the age of 76.

Adwane was born on March 8,1948 in Bejdarfel, Lebanon, the daughter of Youssef and Josephine (Basile) Sleiman.

In 1971, Adwane immigrated to America and settled in the Youngstown area with family.  She believed in the American dream. Through hard work and perseverance, she built a beautiful life with many blessings and opportunities, retiring from General Motors after 43 years.

A devout Maronite Catholic, Adwane, lived a life marked by her unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication. Her deep faith guided her every action, and she approached each day with a heart full of generosity and a spirit of hard work. She exemplified the virtues of love, compassion, and selflessness, enriching the lives of everyone around her.  Adwane was a member of the Saint Maron Parish where she spent much of her time volunteering and participating in church activities. Her devotion to her Catholic faith also extended to the Basilica and National Shrine of our Lady of Lebanon.

Adwane lived life through acts of service.  Often found in the kitchen, nothing brought her more joy than cooking Lebanese cuisine to share with all.  She loved her family and friends fiercely.  Her commitment to her family and her tireless efforts to service others reflected her profound belief in God’s grace.  Daily, she would pray for the health, prosperity, and well-being of others by reciting rosary prayers.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Adwane is preceded in death by her parents, Youssef and Josephine (Basile) Sleiman and her siblings, Tanios Sleiman (Halla), Sleiman Sleiman (Argent), and Marie Sleiman.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Edward Warchol, her sons, Anthony Warchol and Danny Warchol, daughters Michelle Perry (James) and Diane Warchol, loving sister Marie Basile (David), lifelong friend Souad Nakley (Raymond), caring niece Rita Rafidi (Sami) along with many more nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved deeply. Nothing warmed Adwane’s heart more than her two grandsons, Nicolas James Perry and Alexander Case Lidh, who will miss their ‘sitto’ dearly.  Her family and friends will forever cherish the memory of her passionate spirit and faithful heart.  Adwane’s legacy of love and devotion will continue through all of them.

Visitation will be held at on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 10:00 am until 10:50 am at St. Maron Maronite Church, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a Divine Liturgy will follow at 11:00 am with Father Tony Massad as celebrant.
