Youngstown - Francesca Marie (Palumbo) Saculla, 93, of Canfield, made her transition to her Heavenly home peacefully Thursday afternoon, August 22, 2024.
She was born on September 13,1930, in Youngstown, the daughter of Calogero and Francesca (Gennaro) Palumbo and was a lifelong area resident. Francesca was also known to so many as Frances, Frannie, Mom, Grandma and GiGi.
She was raised at 862 Rose Street and it housed 7 Palumbo children, as well as 4 children from the Ferro family relatives. Frances was the youngest of her 7 siblings and was much loved and doted upon by all of them including brothers Carl, Fred, Frank and Paul, and her sisters Concetta and Mary.
Frances graduated from East High in 1948 and met her future husband shortly after Frank Saculla, from Bryan, Texas. He found his future bride and home in Youngstown, and they married July 22,1950.
Frances took great pride in her Italian heritage, Catholic faith, amazing cooking skills and 13 years in the offices of Strouss’ Department Store. Her greatest joy, however, was always found in her family where she was truly their matriarch.
Frances and Frank had 4 children, William (Cindy) Saculla of St. John’s, Florida, Carole Minenok of Jacksonville, Florida, Anthony (Cheryl) Saculla of Poland, and Melissa (Donald) Rich of Canfield, and her beloved eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren that completed her loving legacy along with her sister Mary Marzano and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Preceding her in death were her husband Frank Jr, both parents, son-in-law Frank Minenok and six of her siblings.
Family and friends may pay their respects to Frances on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 9:00 am until 9:50 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
The family would like to thank her Doctor, Frank Turocy, the staff of Briarfield Place and Sanctuary Hospice and special caregiver Brenda for her compassionate care.
