Youngstown – Jason Garet Smith, 51, of Youngstown passed away on Tuesday afternoon, June 17, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Jason was born on May 29, 1974 in Youngstown, a son of Garry and Audrey (Hall) Smith.
Jason was a 1993 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and went on to attend Youngstown State University. He had an extensive career as a phone operator in Las Vegas and here in Boardman. Jason was also employed by Betts Manufacturing as a press operator.
Outside of work, Jason was a family man who cherished time spent with those he loved. He enjoyed going to family parties and playing with his granddaughter, Maddison, who loved her Papa Jay and nephews, Benjamin and Patrick, who loved their uncle “Yay Yay”. Jason was a devoted Dallas Cowboy’s fan, cheering them on every season. He also enjoyed his time living in Las Vegas where he met his wife, Karen. Jason’s loving presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jason will always be remembered by his wife and best friend of 22 years, Karen Palmer of Youngstown; his mother, Audrey (Hall) Smith of Youngstown; children, Alicia Palmer, her boyfriend John Halpin, David Palmer and his husband James; Ana Palmer, her boyfriend Logan Larsik; granddaughter who was the light of his life, Maddison Palmer; brother, Brent Smith; sister, Sarah and her husband Phil Skowron and their boys Benjamin and Patrick; mother-in-law, Anna Pieper; sister-in-law, Michelle Pieper and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, Garry Smith; beloved aunts, Trudy Johnson and Kathy Marrokal and grandparents, Ellena and James Hall and Agnes and Oscar Smith.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Jason on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 12pm to 3pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home at 3pm.
