Youngstown – Jerry Lamar Stanley, 70, of Youngstown, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Born on January 9, 1955, in Dalton, Georgia, Jerry was the son of John and Minnie (Bagley) Stanley. He moved to the Youngstown area in 1956 and remained a proud member of the community throughout his life.
Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and went on to earn a degree in Psychology from Youngstown State University. Answering the call to serve his country, Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably from 1973 to 1977.
Following his military service, Jerry served as a patrolman for the Youngstown Police Department until his retirement in 2008.
Jerry was a member of the Church of Christ. He was known for his love of nature, his gift for writing poetry, and his knack for photography. He found joy in tending to his garden and cheering for his favorite football team, The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Jerry is survived by his former wife, two children, and six siblings, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five of his 11 siblings.
In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, a caring cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
