Youngstown – John Jacob Farcus, 73, of Youngstown, passed away on Sunday morning, February 2, 2025.
John will always be remembered for his smile and the way he always found the good in all situations and people. He also was a kind and gentle soul who never had a bad word to say about anyone.
He was born July 18, 1951, in Youngstown, the son of John and Mary (Staniloiu) Farcus and was a lifelong area resident.
John graduated from Struthers High School and then earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Youngstown State University. He was of the Romanian Orthodox faith and attended group Bible studies. He had many passions throughout his life which included coin and stamp collecting and was a history enthusiast. John also enjoyed watching sports and rooting for his favorite team, the Detroit Tigers.
John leaves behind to hold onto to his memories his four cousins Joan Korth, Elaine Killingbeck, John Staniloiu and Randy Staniloiu and his good friends Virginia Kennedy and her family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, an uncle Eli Staniloiu and an aunt Mary Farcus.
Family and friends may pay their respects to John on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 10:00 am until 10:50 am at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman, where a Trisagion Service will take place at 11:00 am with Father Constantin Ursache as celebrant.
John’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Mark Zidian and the entire staff of Windhaven House along with the entire staff at Oasis Nursing Facility especially Judy, Teresa, Hannah, Tiffany and Lee for all the care and compassion shown to John throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in John’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
