Joseph Rosati Obituary

Boardman – Joseph Americo Rosati, 83, of Boardman, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Joe was born April 11, 1935 in Youngstown, the son of Jack and Katherine (Aulisio) Rosati.

He graduated from South High School in 1953 and was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Joe earned the rank of SP3 and was awarded the following decorations for his service to our country; the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. Joe received and Honorable Discharge on January 18, 1956 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts.

Joe became a mason by trade and worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube until relocating to Washington DC, as a special unit firefighter assigned to the White House during the Kennedy administration. Joe returned to Youngstown and became involved in the Refractory business, initially in sales and later in consulting and manufacturing. He became a superintendent of the mason department at Canton Timken Faircrest for 15 years prior to starting his own refractory company.

Joe had a bigger than life personality with a becoming voice and commanding personality that left an impression on anyone he met. He enjoyed the challenge of doing Sudoku puzzles, golfing, fishing, and playing cards. Joe also watched sports on TV and looked forward to watching his grandchildren participate in many sporting events.

He was a former member of Fonderlac Country Club and Salem Country Club where he was also a ranger. He was a fixture at the YSU football tailgate lot for many years and was a former Youngstown State Basketball season ticket holder.

He leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories his wife of over 64 years, the former Jean Pannozzo, five children Dr. Nicholas (Colette), Atty Gary (Lynn), Carol (David), Joseph and James (Kate), eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother Jerry (Lillian) and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother Paul.
