Poland – Lilia Caparso, 94, of Poland, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025.
Lilia will always be remembered for her smile and as the family peacemaker and caregiver for her parents in the family home until their passing. She was the first to always give a helping hand to anyone in need.
She was born January 4, 1931, in Struthers, the daughter of Frank and Lucia (Pompei) Caparso and was a lifelong area resident.
She graduated from Struthers High School and began her career in office administration at JC Penny Department Store. Lilia then worked as a secretary for many years until she retired from General Electric Company.
Lilia was a devout Catholic and regularly attended mass along with volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen until she was unable to due to health reasons. She was a former member of Holy Family Parish.
Lilia had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard and baking pizzelles for her family.
Lilia is survived by her sister Gladys Klem, brother Albert Caparso, brother-in-law Lou DeMichele, sister-in-law Phyllis Caparso and eleven nieces and nephews along with many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents, Lilia was preceded in death by brothers Carl Caparso and Emiddio Caparso and sisters Ann White and Delores DeMichele.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 11:00 am until 11:50 am at St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman, where a Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 pm with Rev. Brian Cline as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Lowellville.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Ross & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Lilia’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 317 Via Mt Carmel Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
