Youngstown – Michael J. “Mike” Carbone Sr., 80, of Youngstown, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 21, 2025 at the Addison of Cornersburg.
Mike was born on July 23, 1944, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph Sr. and Carmel (Gentile) Carbone. He was proud to have grownup on the Eastside of Youngstown and was a 1962 graduate of East High School as a “Golden Bear”.
Mike was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He earned the rank of Specialist 4th Class and earned the following decorations for his service to our country, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mike received an Honorable Discharge on September 28, 1968.
Mike was employed as a machinist with United Foundries in Youngstown for over 39 years.
Mike will always be remembered as an avid fisherman who made his own lures and his passion for making his garden with the tomato and pepper plants, he grew in his greenhouse that he built. His garden was always perfect and produced a great harvest which he shared with family and friends. He also loved making his own homemade wine and he valued the time he shared with his family and friends.
Mike leaves behind to hold onto his memories his two sons Michael Carbone (Keri Garzanich) of Columbiana and Rocco Carbone (Jackie Doyle) of Youngstown, his daughter Andrea Carbone (Joe Stewart) of Youngstown, three grandchildren Gianna Carbone, Michael Clark II and Nina Carbone and two sisters Theresa Carbone of Boardman and Norma Willis of Metter, Georgia along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife the former Patty Guido, and two brothers Joseph Carbone Jr. and Richard Baiss.
Per Michael request there will be no calling hours or services at this time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi and Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
Mike’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Addison of Cornersburg for all the care and compassion shown to Mike throughout this difficult time.
