Michael Guy "Mike" Pizzuto Sr.

Liberty – There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman with the Very Rev. Michael J. Cariglio officiating for Michael Guy Pizzuto Sr., 87, who went to be with our Lord at 11:30 am on Saturday, September 22, 2018.  He was surrounded by his family. 

Mike will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his happiness and easy-going personality. 

He was born on February 28, 1931 in Youngstown, the son of Nicholas and Josephine (Mauro) Pizzuto and was a lifelong area resident.  He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1950. 

Mike heard the call of his country and was a proud United States Army Veteran. He earned the rank of Corporal and served overseas during the Korean Conflict. Mike was awarded many honors along with the Purple Heart for his service to our country. He was Honorably Discharge on December 18, 1953. 

Mike worked for many years in the bakery business, as an owner and an employee.  He retired from the Youngstown Board of Education in 1998, where he was employed as a bus driver for 30 years.  After retirement, Mike enjoyed driving tour buses for Sutton Tours.  Mike loved the warm weather, and spent 22 years wintering in Ft. Myers, Florida, where he leaves many friends. He also enjoyed dancing, bike riding, making wine and playing shuffle board.   

Mike will be deeply missed by his wife, Dolores “Pat” Morris whom he married 64 years ago on September 18, 1954, his sisters, Angela Cercone and Lucy Chicchiaro; brother, Anthony (Mary Ann); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pizzuto, Jeanne Dambrogio and Darlene Morris; and many special nieces, nephews, god-children, and friends. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael Jr.; three brothers, Louis, John, & Joseph; six brothers-in-law, Ralph Morris, Herman (Bud) Morris, Frank Morris, Donald Dambrogio, Angelo Cercone, and Frank West; and two sisters-in-law, Hyacinth Krepps and Jenny West. 

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 9:30 am until 9:50 am all at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. Boardman.  

Burial will take place with military honors at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Boardman.
