Youngstown – Patricia “Patty” (Bruno) Malenic, 72, of Youngstown passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown with her son, Michael, by her side.
Patty was born on January 6, 1952 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of Michael P. and Carmella M. (Napoli) Bruno.
Patty was a 1970 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and enjoyed attending her class reunions. Throughout her life, Patty was involved in politics for the City of Youngstown and was always advocating for the betterment of others. For over 30 years, she worked for the City of Youngstown as an administrative assistant to the Clerk of Courts, and Deputy Clerk of Courts. She was a loyal public servant to our community! In more recent years, Patty worked and eventually retired as a receptionist and clerk for Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
Outside of work, Patty was dedicated to her Catholic faith. She was an active parishioner of St. Christine Parish in Youngstown and served in many of their ministries. Patty was an outstanding cook and baker, specializing in her family’s spaghetti sauce and potato chip and Kahlua cookies. She cherished the time she spent with friends and family Whether it was going on vacation, shopping, going out to eat or talking on the phone; Patty’s friends and family kept her strong through her battle with cancer. A call or text from Patty meant that she loved you and cared for you.
Most of all, Patty’s pride and joy was her son, Michael. She was a devoted mother from the beginning and loved supporting him through his time at St. Christine School, through Ursuline High School and into his adult life. Patty could not be more proud of the man that he had become. Patty will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
Patty will always be remembered by her son, Michael J. Malenic of Akron; sister, Carol (James) Marzo of Poland; nephew, James Jr. (Angela) Marzo; brothers-in-law, Marty (Kim) Malenic of Poland and Matt (Debra) Malenic of Hershey, PA and many loved nieces, nephews cousins and beloved friends.
