Boardman – Sally Jannie Mentzer, 68, of Boardman, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, August 7, 2025, with her family by her side.
Sally was born on May 14, 1957, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Sophie (Mihu) Motz, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and went on earn her Master Degree of Health and Human Services from Youngstown State University. Sally spent many years working for Anthem Insurance Company and was also a proud and devoted homemaker.
Sally found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with her family, baking, and making the holidays special. Her Christmas cookies were legendary and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She will be remembered for her warm smile, friendly nature, and zest for life. Sally loved going to the casino for a game of chance and was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians. Her vibrant spirit and love for fun touched everyone around her.
Sally leaves behind her beloved son David Jr. (Tammy) Ramun; her cherished grandchildren Rebecca (Ty Jefferson) Ramun, Jordan Ramun, Samantha Ramun, and Alyssa Kuzan; and her precious great-grandchildren Silas Ramun and Ty “Junie” Jefferson. She is also survived by her loving sisters Sue (Bill) Ahlswede, Patty Fuleno, and Kathie Motz, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James John Mentzer; her daughter, Kimberly Ramun; her brother, John Motz; and her sister, Sherrill Meenahan.
Family and friends may pay their respects to Sally on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
