Susan Lynn (Detec) Garcia

Youngstown – Susan Lynn Garcia, 67, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Susan will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her smile, outgoing personality, sense of humor and generosity.   

She was born June 24, 1957, in Youngstown, the daughter of Philip and Mary (Abraham) Detec and was a lifelong area resident.

Susan was a 1975 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and an active member of St. Maron Maronite Church where she volunteered for their annual festivals and fish fry’s.

Susan devoted her whole life to being a homemaker. She adored her children and grandchildren. Susan loved raising her two boys and took an active part in their lives. She was active in PTA and never missed any of their sporting events or activities. Susan then had the privilege of becoming a grandma and she looked forward to babysitting and spending time with Savannah and Hudson.

 Susan had many passions in her life. She enjoyed gardening, attending her class reunions and was talented at crocheting, knitting and sewing. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed socializing with her neighbors along with taking an active role in helping them whenever she had the opportunity.  

She leaves behind memories with her husband, Dennis Garcia; her beloved two sons, whom she was so proud of, Adam (Courtney) Garcia of Boardman and Jarrod Garcia of Youngstown; her grandchildren, the apples of her eye, Savannah and Hudson; her brother, Atty. David (Beth) Detec of Liberty; her sister, Mary Ann (Keith) Lemke of Austintown; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Besides her parents, Susan was preceded in death by two brothers Phillip and Victor Detec.

Per Susan request, private services were held on Friday, November 29, 2024 at St. Maron Maronite Church, Youngstown with Father Youssef Barakat as celebrant.

Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

 In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that any memorials go to Saint Maron Maronite Church, 1555 S. Meridian Rd. Youngstown, Ohio 44511.
